Our People

J.W. Wood

J.W. Wood

General Manager,
Boise Valley Feeders

J.W. manages his crew at Boise Valley Feeders to ensure our cattle get proper nutrition and careful handling. Prior to Boise Valley Feeders, he worked at El Oro Feeders in Moses Lake, Washington, where he helped them achieve record performance. J.W. grew up ranching in Hawaii and attended Colorado State University. He got his start in feed yards at JBS Five Rivers in Ulysses, KS.

Chris Nims

Chris Nims

Tax Manager,
Boise Office

A ranch girl from Iona, Idaho, Chris moved to Boise for college and liked it so much she decided to stay. With her experience at small public accounting firms and Deloitte, one of the Big Four, Chris felt very prepared for her current role. “There are not many privately owned companies the size of Agri Beef. It’s a big company with a small feel.” She enjoys the people at Agri Beef and in her free time can be found running, hiking and spending time with her family.

Ballardo Guzman

Ballardo Guzman

Bunk Reader,
Boise Valley Feeders

A lifelong cattleman, Ballardo Guzman has been a bunk reader for Agri Beef for the past 17 years. He has worked with cattle in almost every capacity--from milking cows to working in a growyard, and finally, to sorting and feeding cattle at a feed yard.

Danny Ramirez

Danny Ramirez

Quality Assurance,
Washington Beef

Danny audits and trains the truck drivers and animal handlers at Washington Beef on proper handling techniques and teaches them ways they can improve the well-being of our cattle in transit. After over 33 years at Washington Beef, Danny says his current role “really makes me feel like I am making a difference.”

Kevin Stott

Kevin Stott

Consultant and Nutritionist,
Performix

As a consultant and nutritionist at PerforMix Fruitland, Kevin's responsibilities include covering sales/service to dairy and beef operations, being a liaison for other nutritionists, and consulting for dairy and cow/calf operations. An Agri Beef employee for nine years, Kevin says overcoming nutritional challenges take time. “We will try a method to work towards a cure. If that does not work, try the next one and do this until something works.” His favorite task is going out to a dairy that he has been consulting at for the last 20 years.

Brittany Rasmussen

Brittany Rasmussen

Human Resources Business Partner,
Boise Office

In her role for just over a year, Brittany Rasmussen is really learning the ropes as our Human Resources Business Partner, even if it has meant getting lost on her way to a feed yard a time or two. She works to support our leaders and supervisors with recruiting, employee relations, training, onboarding, and internships. Brittany enjoys the daily opportunity to work with the fun and dedicated people across the Agri Beef organization. Recognizing our business is unique and complex, she finds gaining a better understanding of our supply chain a rewarding challenge.

Seth Mortensen

Seth Mortensen

Account Manager,
Boise Office

Mortensen, an account manager on the Agri Beef Sales team, has what many don’t: a working knowledge of nearly every aspect of the beef lifecycle. Curious about obscure beef cuts? Or the advantage of cross breeding English and Continental bloodlines? Or animal welfare in the feed yard? It’s a fair bet that Seth is the quickest route to an answer. “Seeing the raw passion that people in the industry have, is something I never get tired of,” Mortensen says. This is why he enjoys his job. This is what fuels his enthusiasm for his work. Raw passion.

Garrett Tschida

Garrett Tschida

Director of AB Genetics,
Bull Development Center

Garrett handles the daily management of the Bull Development Center and is responsible for improving the quality of our purebred Wagyu Cattle herd. In addition to keeping the 800 bulls at the center healthy and performing well, he oversees the breeding of the wagyu cowherd, making sure we are continually improving our cattle and, ultimately, our Snake River Farms Wagyu beef.

Matt Buyers

Matt Buyers

Director of Feedyards,
Boise Office

Matt grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and has extensive experience in the cattle industry across the United States. Matt brings incredible industry insight to the Agri Beef team in his role as Director of Feed Yards for the AB Livestock Division. Matt says,” It appears the feed yard industry is an affliction/addiction for me. There is never any shortage of challenge, which is why I guess I like it.” He is excited to be a part of a team that produced such high-quality beef and enjoys the opportunities the industry provides.
